Day Trips from Marrakech

Day Trips from Marrakech

One of the best ways to round out your Morocco vacation is with a day trip from Marrakech. We have developed a number of different day trips for you and we are more than happy to customize them to your groups need.

We also offer day trips from Tangier and day trips from Fes as well. Just ask!

Marrakech is located just between the Atlantic sea coast and the Atlas Mountains. We can go from Marrakech to Essaouira where you can enjoy a beautiful day in a small Portugese fishing village, rich with artists and seafood. The town is home to a large Gnaoua Music festival every year and the tunes play on all year round.

If you would rather get outside and stretch your legs we offer day trips from Marrakech to the High Atlas Mountains. Just 90 minutes from the city through the Ourika Valley and into the mountains you will stop at the village of Imlil and meet your local guide. From here you will have the day to wander the countryside and mountain area, looking upon Mt Toubkal and the valley of Mzine filled with terraced farmland and Berber villages. After a fresh tagine lunch you can spend more time hiking in the area and head back to Marrakech in the afternoon.

Popular Desert Tours

Popular Desert Tours

Here are some of our most popular Marrakech desert tours. When people come to Morocco for the first time, or the 5th time, a trip to the Sahara desert from Marrakech is always on the list.

You can choose from a few different deserts in Morocco, for your Marrakech desert tours. There is the Agafay Desert just a short drive from Marrakech that is great for an overnight stay or even a day trip. It is rocky and arid and perhaps not what you picture a sandy desert to be. All the same, it is a desert and the camels are waiting to show you around.

Maybe you have only a short time in Morocco and you want to make a quick overnight trip to the Sahara desert in Morocco. Take advantage of the 2 day trip to Zagora in that case. Leave Marrakech early in the morning on the first day, spend the night in a desert camp and then return to Marrakech in the late afternoon on the second day.

If you do choose to go to Zagora, you should know that the terrain is a little rockier than the sandy dunes of Merzouga. If you want to see sandy dunes here, you will need to travel a little farther south to M’Hamid. We are more than happy to take you there but you will need to have a 2 night, 3 day trip to the desert to make sure you have ample time to enjoy your destination.

Of course the Marrakech desert tour that takes you to the biggest sandy dunes is the one that goes to Merzouga. Located south east of Marrakech and south from Fes, this is a very popular destination, but one that requires time to access. Choose to spend 3 or 4 days to get to these beautiful red dunes. You can go to and from either Fes or Marrakech, or travel from Fes to Marrakech or vice versa, spending a night in the dunes at Merzouga along the way.
