A great way to see the countryside outside of Marrakech is to take a day trip to Ourika Valley, the closest day trip visit from Marrakech. This valley is rich in waterfalls and natural surroundings making it a very popular spot for visitors, both foreign and Moroccans alike.
One of the best preserved valleys in Morocco, the Ourika Valley is about 64 km outside Marrakech. The valley extends for quite some distance from the last village on the road. It continues on to Tachedirt and Oukaimeden, which is the best ski hill in Morocco. Yes, SKI HILL!
Choosing a day trip to Ourika Valley is heavenly surrounded by the riverbed, mountains, lush landscape, birds singing and abundant nature. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. You are treading on natural landscape so the path may become rocky and uneven, with a few obstacles to tackle. Adventurous but not challenging you should have good mobility and be able to walk long distance on flat but somewhat rugged terrain.

Ourika Valley is probably the most visited area in the High Atlas Mountains and a short 1h30 drive from Marrakech.
We will pick you up from your accommodations and drive along the Ourika valley and banks of the Ourika river in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Once we have arrived you may choose to use the services of a local guide and hike to the waterfalls.
The beautiful village of Arhbalou has a multitude of small restaurants owned by Berber families along the river’s edge. A picnic lunch at Arhbalou Cascades or at the edge of the Ourika river is popular with locals and tourists alike.
The day trip to Ourika Valley is a peaceful escape from the busy city streets of Marrakech, so take an advantage while you are here to enjoy some time to relax outside the city.
In November, you can see the saffron farms in the area for the annual saffron harvest.
